It is that time of year where the
Christmas jumpers and holiday cheer comes out, we have chosen to Celebrate
Christmas by having our Christmas Meal at the Heads of the river Pub in Oxford.
Our social secs worked hard to accommodate everyone’s Christmassy needs and
believe me it is no easy feat booking a sit down meal for 30 odd people. Once
some of us had figured out what the menu was trying to tell us what we would be
eating, the excitement could begin.
The excitement was clearly too
much for some people as there was a full pint spilt in the first 3 minutes, and
the discovery of a Heron just outside the window was just the icing on the
cake. There was a great battle watched and encouraged by many and commentated to
the rest of us.
Finally, the food began to come.
The starters didn’t last long, neither did the mains. All the veg was gone
before some people even got their mains, but do not fear we had been told we
could have top ups and as much veg as we liked. We took full advantage of this!
The restaurant staff ended up bringing us 2 more trays of vegetables and 3
trays of roast potatoes, all different kinds. To the one of the tables dismay when
they begged for the potatoes, that they had all been claimed by the end of the
1st table. Once the gannets had eaten all the veg the kitchen had,
we were ready for pudding.
Even after the 3rd
course people were still not filled, so insisted on going to G & D’s for
more dessert. After that it was off to the pub to finish the night off.
